What happens when you are in Minneapolis and someone comes up and KICKS the side of your car. You end up with a LARGE DENT about a size 12 shoe that is left in the quarter panel. Just like the one in this Mercedes.

So what do you do? Watch this video to see what happens.

So my customer was downtown Minneapolis one evening when some guy comes up to his car and gives a good swift kick right to the left rear quarter panel. Now he has the large dent in his nice Mercedes. Needless to say he was not very happy with this.

It’s a good thing he brought the car into us at Excel Dent Removal to have paintless dent removal done to repair this dent. With the paintless dent repair (PDR) method I was able to remove this large dent without having to repaint the car. You will see in the video that the PDR method involves gaining access to the back of the panel to push the dents out from the inside. For this large dent in the Mercedes quarter panel it meant taking out the tail light and exposing the opening behind it.

Often with large dents there will be a “crown”. This is what happens when the vehicle gets dented. The metal doesn’t just go inward but has to move somewhere and can cause the metal extrude out. Much like the ripples in the water when a rock is thrown in. You will see in the PDR video that I had to use a special hammer to knock down the crowns to straighten the metal.

Is it possible to remove large dents with Paintless Dent Removal (PDR)?

There are a few questions I am often asked about PDR.

  • Can paintless dent repair remove large dents?
  • Can you repair a crease with paintless dent removal?
  • Can dents in a body line be removed paintless?

These are some common questions and misconceptions about PDR. With the new advancements and techniques today, all of these are possible. There is no longer a need to send your car off to the body shop for days to have the costly method of having them repaired and painted.

In this video you will be able to see all three of these types of dents are indeed possible.

This dent in the fender of the Toyota Sienna minivan was a large dent with a crease right through the body line. My customer from Coon Rapids MN had a small collision that cause the damage to the fender.
Paintless Dent Removal was the best method to use for this repair.

If you have had a minor collision or need a small dent repaired, then contact us for an excellent repair.

Here was a paintless dent removal on a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica right fender large dent that we repaired last week.
This dent was caused by someone hitting the fender with the bumper of their car. This dent was about 6 – 8 inches in length and had very minimal paint damage. Paintless dent repair was a great choice to remove this dent over taking the car to a regular auto repair shop for body repair and paint.

The car was repaired in less than a day. The cost to remove the dent and buff out the minor scuffs was $300.

Here is an example of saving money when choosing to use PDR over a conventional auto body repair.

This vehicle came to us from one of the body shops that we service. Eric over at Coon Rapids Collision had given the customer an estimate for body repair. The estimate was about $750. He then told the customer that this dent could also be repaired with PDR and could save him over half off the estimate he had just given him. The customer gave us a call and set up an appointment for an estimate. We came out and said we could do the repair for $250. This was only a third of the cost to repair it at the body shop.

The repair to the 2005 Toyota Solara turned out excellent and the customer was only without their car for a few hours.
