Someone Kicked My Car and Left a Large Dent
February 16, 2015
What happens when you are in Minneapolis and someone comes up and KICKS the side of your car. You end up with a LARGE DENT about a size 12 shoe that is left in the quarter panel. Just like the one in this Mercedes.
So what do you do? Watch this video to see what happens.
So my customer was downtown Minneapolis one evening when some guy comes up to his car and gives a good swift kick right to the left rear quarter panel. Now he has the large dent in his nice Mercedes. Needless to say he was not very happy with this.
It’s a good thing he brought the car into us at Excel Dent Removal to have paintless dent removal done to repair this dent. With the paintless dent repair (PDR) method I was able to remove this large dent without having to repaint the car. You will see in the video that the PDR method involves gaining access to the back of the panel to push the dents out from the inside. For this large dent in the Mercedes quarter panel it meant taking out the tail light and exposing the opening behind it.
Often with large dents there will be a “crown”. This is what happens when the vehicle gets dented. The metal doesn’t just go inward but has to move somewhere and can cause the metal extrude out. Much like the ripples in the water when a rock is thrown in. You will see in the PDR video that I had to use a special hammer to knock down the crowns to straighten the metal.

Porsche Dent Repair in MN
January 28, 2015
This video shows a dent that I removed with paintless dent repair on a Porsche Panamera 4.
My customer from Blaine MN came in to have this dent removed since he had backed into the mail box. I was able to use PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) method to remove this dent without having a costly repaint or diminish the value of the car.
I was able to start with the “glue pull” method to pull up some of the dent and minimize how much pushing I would have to do from behind the dent. I then removed some of the interior to gain access to the back of the panel. Doing this allowed me to finish pushing the dent out with PDR tools. The rear hatch on this Porsche is aluminum. Removing a dent on an aluminum panel takes some extra skill and patience since it reacts different than removing a dent on a steel panel.
Here we have another excellent repair and a happy customer.
Paintless Dent Repair Estimate Guide
May 2, 2008
If you just recently noticed that dent on your car or if it has been there for a while. You may be wondering, how much will it cost to have that ding removed?

Paintless Dent Repair Estimate Guide
We have a guide that you can use to estimate a price range for paintless dent repair.
This guide will give you an idea on the average price for pdr for dents from one to six inches. You can see that a dent that is less than one inch is $95. A door ding that is one inch will be $150. Then we will continue to add $50 per inch in size of the damage
When using the guide, the price for dent repair is priced per panel on the vehicle. When removing dents on the same panel the price for additional dents can be discounted.
This estimate guide is just that, a guide. There are other factors that go into estimating the cost of paintless dent repair. We also take into account the depth of the dent. If a dent is deeper than average, causing the metal to be stretched more than normal. We may also need to remove interior panels or taillights to access the panels for a proper repair. All of these factors may increase the amount of the repair.
There are times that the repair may cost less than what the guide shows. The dent may be larger, but if it is easy to access and is not a sharp dent or creased. We will give a lower price.
If the vehicle has hail damage, there is a different estimating guide used. We have a system that takes into account the size, depth, and amount of the dents per panel. We then have a formula that will give a price per panel. This formula is a combination of years of experience repairing and estimating hail and the pricing guidelines set by the insurance companies.
